Our Materials

Nicaraguan Cocobolo

Our Nicaraguan Cocobolo supplier is dedicated to the longevity of this beautiful wood. He has over 800,000 board feet planted for the future!

Antique Sinker Cypress

100 years ago, lumberjacks used axes to fell these Cypress trees before floating them on barges to mills. These are pulled from the swamps in FL and GA and milled today!

Spalted Tamarind

Our Spalted Tamarind is one of our favorites because of the interesting grain. “Spalting” is often done deliberately to make otherwise simply-grained woods exciting!

#1 Morado

Morado is a dense and beautiful furniture-quality wood which is rich in brown, black and purple tones.

#2 Morado

This is very similar to the #1 Morado except that it has “sapwood” which shows itself as blond highlights.

Mineral-Fed Poplar

Our Mineral-Fed Poplar was harvested from a local farmer’s field that was cleared for crop production. Poplar is normally a bland wood, but not in this case!

Red Heart

The deep red tones of Red Heart highlight this very smooth, finely grained exotic wood.

Padauk

Padauk often shares colors with Red Heart with the exception of small black lines imbedded as “dashes” in the grain.

Purple Heart

Purple heart ranges from bright purple tones to a purple/brown grain. It is one of the most difficult to make because of its high resin content.

Wenge

Wenge is an ebony colored wood that we use cut both “quarter-sawn” and “flat-sawn” to give you two different grain patterns.

Leopardwood

Leopardwood is another wood we buy “flat-sawn” and “quarter-sawn” to give your two distinct looks- One more like leather, the other more “lacy” in appearance.

Zebrawood

Zebrawood is an adventure each time we cut it- Lots of grain variation and wild stripes here!

Ambrosia Maple

Ambrosia Maple isn’t really its own species. It is maple that was invaded with Ambrosia Beetles that left behind this cool accent striping!

Chakte Viga

The more orange cousin to Red Heart, Chankte Viga can range from bright oranges to more subdued pumpkin colors.

Nargusta

Digging PINK and REDS? We do, so we are happy to offer this beautiful wood. Blond woods are mixed with red and pinks here. So pretty!

Bocote

Why do we love Bocote so much? Because it does such a cool job showing off our color and grain-matched lids!

African Rosewood

Why so many dugouts in this pic? Because this wood varies widely in grain, burl and color.

Granadillo

Granadillo is a deeply colored brown/black wood often found with gold shimmers in the grain.
